How to Prepare for an In-Home Computer Service Visit

A short checklist that helps keep your appointment focused on the problem you want solved.

General educational information • Reviewed July 16, 2026

Write down the symptoms

Include when the problem began, what changed beforehand, and the exact task you cannot complete. Photographs of earlier error messages can help.

Gather the useful pieces

Have normal power cables, connected accessories, account-recovery information you control, and any relevant backup storage nearby. Never send passwords through an ordinary booking form.

Protect private information

Close unrelated documents and set aside anything private. We explain when access is needed and keep the work focused on the help you requested.
